5 Website Mistakes That Drive Customers Away (and How to Fix Them)
I review dozens of Las Vegas business websites every year, and the same five mistakes appear over and over. Each one quietly costs the owner customers. Check your own site against this list.
1. No phone number above the fold
Service businesses live on phone calls, yet many sites bury the number in a footer or a contact page. Your phone number belongs in the header of every page, as a tappable link. The customer who can’t find your number in five seconds calls the next result on Google.
2. Describing yourself instead of the customer’s problem
“We are a full-service, customer-focused company with a commitment to excellence” tells a visitor nothing. Compare: “Air conditioner died? We’re in Summerlin within the hour.” Lead with the problem you solve, in the customer’s words.
3. Stock photos where real photos belong
People can spot stock photography instantly, and it reads as “we’re hiding something.” Real photos of your team, your shop, and your actual work build more trust than any polished stock image — especially in a relationship town like Las Vegas.
4. Forms that ask for too much
Every extra field on your contact form costs you leads. Name, phone or email, and a message box is enough to start a conversation. You can collect the rest on the phone. And test your own form monthly — broken contact forms can silently eat leads for weeks before anyone notices.
5. No reason to choose you
If your website could have your competitor’s logo swapped in without anyone noticing, it isn’t doing its job. Years in business, guarantees, reviews from local customers, your face and your name — specificity wins. People hire people, not template text.
The good news
None of these require a full redesign to fix. They require looking at your website the way a stranger does — something that’s nearly impossible to do with your own site, which is why an outside review helps.
