How to Choose a Web Designer in Las Vegas: 6 Questions to Ask Before You Hire

Searching “web design Las Vegas” returns a wall of agencies, freelancers, and offshore firms all promising the same thing. After twenty years in this business, here are the questions I’d ask before hiring anyone — including me.

1. Who actually does the work?

Many agencies are sales fronts: the person you meet hands your project to a rotating cast of subcontractors. That’s how details get lost and timelines slip. Ask directly: “Who designs it? Who codes it? Who do I call when something breaks?” If the answer involves more than a couple of names, expect handoffs.

2. Can I see live websites you built — and call the owners?

Portfolios full of screenshots are easy to fake. Live websites with real businesses behind them are not. A confident designer will happily connect you with past clients.

3. Who owns the website when it’s done?

This one bites people constantly. Some companies build on proprietary platforms you can never leave, or keep your domain registered in their name. You should own your domain, your content, and your website files — full stop. Get it in writing.

4. What happens after launch?

Websites need updates, backups, and security patches. Ask what maintenance costs, what’s included, and how fast they respond when something goes wrong on a Friday afternoon.

5. How will the site bring me business?

A pretty website that nobody finds is a brochure in a drawer. Listen for substance about search engine optimization, page speed, mobile design, and conversion — not buzzwords. Ask: “What will you do so my site ranks for my services in Las Vegas?”

6. What does it cost — all of it?

Get the complete picture: design, development, hosting, maintenance, and what changes cost later. A suspiciously low quote usually means a template with your logo dropped on top, or a hook with expensive add-ons later.

The bottom line

You’re not buying a website; you’re choosing the person responsible for your business’s front door for the next five years. Choose someone local enough to meet, experienced enough to trust, and accountable enough to answer the phone.
