I Just Formed a Nevada LLC. Now What? The New Business Website Checklist

You filed the LLC through SilverFlume, the state license is in the works, the bank account is open, and now every checklist says “get a website.” If you just formed a business in Nevada, here is the exact order to do the website work in, what each piece costs in the real world, and the three mistakes that quietly cost new Las Vegas businesses customers for years.

First: buy your domain name yourself, today, in your own account

Before you hire anyone or build anything, register your domain name (yourbusiness.com) in an account that belongs to you: your email, your credit card, your login. It costs around $10 to $20 a year and takes ten minutes. Do this even if the website is months away, because good names disappear and because the domain is the one asset you must never let a vendor own on your behalf. When a designer offers to “handle” the domain, the correct answer is that you will register it and grant them access. (I say this as a designer: it protects both of us. Here is what happens to businesses that skip this step.)

Second: set up email on your domain before you print anything

[email protected] costs a few dollars a month through Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 and instantly reads as an established business. A Gmail address on a business card quietly tells every customer “brand new, might not last.” Set this up before you order cards, sign up for vendor accounts, or register with the state and suppliers, so you never have to change it everywhere later.

Third: claim your Google Business Profile the moment you have an address

For a local business, the free Google Business Profile drives the map results where “near me” customers actually click. Claim it, verify it, and make the name, address, and phone exactly match what will be on your website. Consistency between these two is a ranking factor and, increasingly, what AI assistants check before recommending a business.

Fourth: the website itself, sized to where you are

A new Las Vegas business rarely needs more than a professional 5 to 8 page site: home, services, about, service area, contact, and a page per main service. Done properly (custom, mobile-first, with local SEO foundations) that runs $1,500 to $2,500 at my studio, with hosting and maintenance from $30 a month; the full numbers are on my pricing page. What matters at this stage is not size, it is foundations: clean structure Google can rank, pages that name the communities you serve, a form that reaches you instantly, and analytics so you can see what is working from day one. If your customers are in Enterprise or Spring Valley, those names belong on your pages, because that is what people actually type into the search bar.

Skip the temptation to DIY on a site builder “just for now.” Six months in, the DIY site is invisible on Google, the “now” has hardened into permanence, and fixing it costs more than starting right. If the budget is genuinely tight, a small professional site beats a large amateur one every time.

Fifth: industry housekeeping while you are at it

Certain Nevada businesses have website obligations from day one. Licensed contractors must display their contractors board license number on all advertising including the website (here is the full NRS 624.720 guide). Medical and wellness practices need to think about patient data and tracking pixels before launching (the HIPAA website guide). And any business serving the public should build to accessibility standards from the start (the ADA guide), because it is cheaper than retrofitting.

The three mistakes that cost new businesses years

  • Letting someone else own the domain. Covered above; it is the most expensive ten minutes you can skip.
  • Waiting for perfect. A solid site live in three weeks beats a perfect site live never. Google rewards age and consistency; every month unlisted is a month competitors compound ahead of you.
  • Spending the whole budget on the site and nothing on being found. A beautiful site nobody sees produces nothing. Foundational local SEO belongs in the launch, not on the someday list. That is why my SEO service is built into how I quote new-business sites rather than sold as an extra.

I have walked new Las Vegas businesses through this exact sequence since 2005, from Summerlin startups to Henderson practices to North Las Vegas contractors.
